I have been trying for several years to lose weight. I combined sports and nutrition, but it didn't help. There were no results that satisfied me, until I came to train with Kara. At first, I only trained once a week, it was not easy, then I joined the nutrition plan for fat loss- a 6 week challenge. Kara set me up with a flexible diet plan, emphasising real food, quality protein and vegetable and a reduction of highly processed foods.  She gave me a lot of practical tools to deal with temptations and challenges along the way. Kara encouraged me without judgement and always with a positive attitude. Following the diet and exercise plan (with a strength training focus), I have managed to lose 25kg so far. Now I train 3-4 times a week in the group without difficulty. I was able to make a significant change in my life thanks to Kara.

Finally over the last year, I received tools for life. At the age of 40, I learnt what a lifestyle is- not just what is a low calorie "quick fix".  I learnt to cook and fill my kitchen with nourishing foods that give me energy and satisfaction- fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts and essential proteins. I learnt to listen to my body, to give it what it needs and not to burden it with instant gratification foods. 

The combination of strength training and nutrition was what I was looking for.  The weight loss and body composition changes is a result of the process, and the maintenance of this way of eating and training works for me. The positive changes affected all areas of my life, not just my health and fitness. Kara is simply a mentor and a true partner in the process.

I have been training with Kara for 2 years now. The group training classes are the best part of my day, it's my time. I have lost a lot of inches and kilograms and completely reshaped my body, but most importantly I have kept it off. The 6 week challenges throughout the year really helped me accelerate my fat loss and I even learnt to cook!

Lost 14kg and gained back her self confidence

I have been training with Kara for 2 years. I started with one workout a week and over time I added more sessions. I participated in 3 of Kara's fat loss challenges over the year and have lost a total of 14kg. Previously I tried everything including #WeightWatchers, a nutritionist and many other diets. I found there are no magic tricks, just eating consistently within a calorie deficit combined with strength training. What worked this time compared to previous attempts, is the support and accountability from Kara. There is no judgement and no expectation of perfectionism. Kara taught me not to judge myself and to accept the process as it is, with it's ups and downs. It allowed me not to despair when the scale didn't move and to persevere in the process without suffering.
